Tonya MacDonald, Mountain Midwifery CareTonya MacDonald is a Registered Midwife and has practiced midwifery since 2004. She left her home province of Quebec and life as a secondary school teacher to complete her degree in midwifery at McMaster University. Tonya also holds a BSc (Anatomy), DiplEd (Sciences), and a Master's degree in Public Health (Health Promotion and Global Health) from the University of Toronto (2013). Tonya is a Master Lecturer in the Midwifery Education Program at Laurentian University in Sudbury. She is also a Maternal Child Health Team Volunteer for the SJH-International Outreach Program at Centre Médical Beraca, Port-de-Paix, Haiti. Tonya practices midwifery because she loves the privilege of being a part of a woman's journey of pregnancy, birth and motherhood, and appreciates that each and every experience is unique and beautiful in its own way. We appreciate working with Tonya because of her cheerful attitude (day and night) and her obvious love of birth. In her spare time, Tonya enjoys being active, camping in Selkirk, eating out in Old Montreal or hiking in Haiti. She loves adventure and learning, especially with her children!
